Scotland needs 20,000 additional workers trained in construction retrofit by 2030 to meet the demand for more energy efficient buildings and net-zero targets.
Incorporating circular principles into construction has great benefits including reducing embodied carbon, plus designing for optimisation including maintenance and deconstruction. In recognition of this, the Circular Economy (CE) Construction Retrofit Training Programme was made a priority project within the Climate Emergency Skills Action Plan (CESAP).
Zero Waste Scotland has developed resources to enable those running retrofit training or courses to embed circularity within their offerings – see below. Inclusion is of course important to us as we strive to empower Scotland’s Just Transition to a circular, climate resilient economy, so these are available to anyone who has an interest.
